Golden State Warriors: A Legacy of Championship Success

From Philadelphia to San Francisco, a Basketball Dynasty

Philadelphia Warriors (1946-1962)

The Golden State Warriors, originally known as the Philadelphia Warriors, were founded in 1946 as part of the Basketball Association of America (BAA). In their inaugural season, the team finished with a record of 26-42 and lost in the first round of the playoffs. However, they quickly became a dominant force in the league, winning three BAA championships in 1947, 1951, and 1956.

San Francisco Warriors (1962-1971)

In 1962, the Warriors relocated to San Francisco and became known as the San Francisco Warriors. This move marked a new era for the franchise as they continued to build a strong foundation for success. The team won two more NBA championships in 1975 and 1976, led by legendary players such as Wilt Chamberlain and Rick Barry.

Golden State Warriors (1971-Present)

In 1971, the team officially became the Golden State Warriors and moved to their current home, the Oakland Arena. The Warriors have continued to be one of the most successful teams in the NBA, winning seven more championships in 2015, 2017, 2018, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025. They are known for their high-scoring offense and innovative style of play, led by superstars such as Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green.

Today, the Golden State Warriors are one of the most popular and successful teams in the NBA. They have a loyal fan base throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond. The team is consistently ranked among the favorites to win the championship each year, and they continue to make history with their on-court success.
